The latest Press Release for Sadie and the Hotheads
SADIE & THE HOTHEADS –‘HOW NOT TO LOSE THINGS’
THE NEW ALBUM & SINGLE OUT ON OCTOBER 29TH
Sadie & The Hotheads release the captivating new album ‘How Not to Lose Things’, as well as the enchanting first single ‘Cow Song’ on Monday October 29th on Absolute/Universal.
Fronted by the international star of stage and screen Elizabeth McGovern, who appears as Lady Cora in the hit ITV series Downton Abbey, Sadie & The Hotheads create a spectrum of sound on their second LP. Ranging from the delicate folk infused ‘All The Time’ to country classic in the making ‘LA Days’, ‘How Not to Lose Things’ features dynamic and compelling songs on this stunning new album. The first single to be taken from the record, ‘Cow Song’ is a beautiful country number that showcases their musical and song writing ability, out on October 29th.
With a voice that is both fragile and husky, but distinctly hers, Elizabeth McGovern lends a quirky charm to the deft musicianship of the Hotheads. Inspired by the likes of Leonard Cohen, the band delve deep into their musical ability, conjuring thoughts of love & lust with ‘Old Boyfriends’ and adventure with ‘Open Mic Blues’. An alluring vocalist, McGovern blends sultry, seductive and sweet making this latest album her best yet.
In 2005 Elizabeth responded to an advert for guitar lessons placed in a local newspaper by Steve Nelson of The Nelson Brothers. Over the next 2 years the lessons grew into writing sessions and the pair developed songs into a live set. Joined by Simon Nelson, Rowan Oliver (Goldfrapp), Ron Knights and Nick Lacey, these songs culminated in 2007’s ‘I Can Wait’ and now its follow-up ‘How Not to Lose Things’, is a divine 12-track collection
Elizabeth McGovern said, “I am in awe of the musicians who I had the opportunity to work with on this project. They create magic out of thin air! Time and time again, on whatever drafty stage or pub we happened to be in. With good humour and joy in their art, they begin to play. It gives me faith. That it's all worth it, for its own sake. For the joy. This is what I hope we can convey.”
